Got these bits today. What are the two extra strap bits on the breadbag, please?

Are these Y-straps authentic?

Steiner the 'Cav' straps are actually post-war ones(U can tell by the front clips), but do the job very well, I've got a set myself - but the rear strap snapped off at D-Day, managed to get suitable replacement strap(em bought extra as spares) from Zeltplane (Ebay)

If Herr Major jumped out of a Ju52 with all that bling, there is no way his parachute would open in time! :P

Just watched a DVD I got from TJ Hughes the other day (dunno if they're nationwide, but it's a cheapie shop) - cost about £3.99 I think. It's a German-made (but English narration) film, on the Eben-Emael fortress attack, 76mins long. Really really well made, loads of interviews with veterans, and not filled with a load of irrelevant footage like so many programs are nowadays. Here are a few snapshots:
Training days...

Some of the assault groups...

Actual footage of the pioniers crossing the canal to take a fortification...

Interestingly, on almost all shots, the FJ helmets were camoflaged with mud. Might try that one myself! :)

That looks really interesting, I`ll have to keep an eye out for it. What was the title of the dvd? :)

The Attack on Fort Eban-Emael. Can only see one SH copy on Amazon. The nearest TJ Hughes to you is Plymouth!

Ditch the mess tin, and move the pistol holster to your left side.

Other than that, looking good! Dont see too many T+W impressions.

Nice pics mate, my Mrs acted the same when she was taking photos of me. I can understand BP about moving the holster to the left side but why ditch the mess tin? :)

Bit of a generalisation there BP, I`ve seen plenty of pics of fj in Russia and Tunisia who are carrying everything but the kitchen sink. I think it all depended on what type of operation they were on, short patrol away from base..maybe, but on long patrols out in to the wilds they would need all the subsistence paraphenalia. :)
